Information on the Bull & Bear restaurant

Suggestions: starters such as sea bass marinated with fresh herbs, a terrine of foie gras-with Port (a Tawny, 10 years) and cumberland sauce, or the grilled scallops with cream of leek and Avruga caviar.

Then there are the famous cod with 'migas', vegetables and beans, the squid with 'beurre blanc' shrimp or the Açorda of grilled tiger shrimp. The pork with vegetables, the magret of duck with mushroom risotto or the partridge with apple give an idea of this vast and diverse menu. The 'toucinho do ceu' dessert with raspberry sorbet brings a wonderful meal to its conclusion.

We were a group of 6, and had reserved this restaurant for dinner on Saturday 29th November 2008.
The restaurant decor is simple but charming.
We ordered the 6 course menu for eur.60 (including wine) per person. We had a memorable meal, each dish was a delight and full of flavour. The presentation was superb, the staff were attentive to our needs without being fussy, and the wines matched the food well. All 6 of us live in Geneva, and have been fortunate to have had a wide experience of dining worldwide - this experience at the Bull and Bear ranks amongst our finest. Keep up the excellent standards !

PS Where does the name Bull and Bear come from? (It sounds like an English pub)Is it because its targetted at the financial markets/stockbrokers? Who knows?
